Who is Tharaka Wasalamudaliarachchi?
On 18 October 1973, Tharaka Wasalamudaliarachchi was born in Matara, Sri Lanka. Also known as Tharu Queen, she is widely recognized for her contributions to Sinhala literature and Sri Lankan media.
Tharaka Wasalamudaliarachchi is regarded as an authoress who changed Sri Lankan literature through her novels “Kalu” and “Aes.” Kalu became one of her best-selling novels and a fan favorite among readers. Although Aes did not receive the same level of recognition as Kalu, it is considered an early example of Cli-Fi (climate fiction) in Sri Lankan literature.
To this day, Tharaka Wasalamudaliarachchi (Tharu Queen) continues to maintain her presence as an author, journalist, and social media influencer, while continuing to write novels and create music.
